"Kindness is the universal language that transcends borders and cultures, creating a foundation for true inclusivity."
Gloria Mejía
Gloria Mejía migrated to the United States from El Salvador at the age of nine to reunite with her parents. Drawing from her parents' determination, she earned a BA in healthcare administration and an MBA, both from the University of Phoenix. As a lifelong learner, Gloria is a globally certified project management professional (PMP) with specialized expertise in leading new healthcare models, digital transformation, and environmental and social governance (ESG). She is also a certified Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM). She has earned certificates in coaching and quality from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and global supply chain management from the Wharton School's Executive Education program. Rounding out Gloria's expertise, she has a certificate in Leading Racial Equity and Inclusion in Organizations from Northwestern University's Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences.
Gloria's successful career includes nearly two decades in the healthcare sector, where she co-led the development of an innovation site for a Federally Qualified Health Center, implementing a new model of care to improve patient outcomes. Currently, she manages projects focused on advancing economic development through supplier inclusion initiatives.
Throughout her work, Gloria leverages her journey as a migrant and neurodiverse individual, bringing her experiences and knowledge to discussions on inclusivity and resilience. As a volunteer mentor at Upwardly Global, Gloria supports newcomers entering the U.S. workforce with various aspects of job seeking, such as mock interviews, resume development, and connecting them with potential employment opportunities. She currently serves on the Small Business Development Center board for the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Her passion for inclusion and diverse identities led her to publish Do I Look American? (2025), which challenges traditional notions of what it means to be American.
Gloria passionately shares her wealth of life experiences, speaking on topics such as navigating identity in a multicultural world, building resilience through change, and the power of inclusive leadership. She emphasizes the importance of storytelling in shaping how we view the world and the critical role of cross-cultural communication in building bridges between diverse communities. Her stories of resilience inspire audiences to embrace their journeys with curiosity and openness. Above all, she seeks to foster connection and understanding, enriching the collective human experience with every narrative shared and lesson learned.
